In and around Talybont Reservoir

Talybont Reservoir was built in the 1930’s to supply water to Newport from the River Caerfanell. Better known for the turbine that the local villagers instigated. The villagers were concerned about the impact our modern lives are having on the planet and thus they set up Talybont-on-Usk Energy and installed a turbine in the local dam creating enough energy to power one quarter of the village.
